Then Jesus said to them, “A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you; he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going. While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light.” These things Jesus spoke, and departed, and was hidden from them. But although He had done so many signs before them, they did not believe in Him, that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke: “ Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?” Then Jesus said to them, “A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you; he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going. While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light.” These things Jesus spoke, and departed, and was hidden from them: {John 12: 35-38}The apostle John quotes Isaiah 53:1, saying to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? It’s a question that God answers throughout the rest of Isaiah 53, describing in detail the life of Jesus and the ultimate price He would pay for you sins, my sins, and the sins of the world. Jesus was saying in verse 35 that He is the light, their day was just about gone and that eternal darkness is coming. Jesus is the light of the world and they rejected Him, which most people still do today, so there is nothing left but darkness and that darkness has come upon untold millions. Sad to say even the USA, which is suppose to be a Christian nation is not really a Christian nation any more. That is the truth even if some of you reading this will not accept it. There are a few Christians let in this country, but not many. We are getting to be the minority. For the most part our country has turn its back on the Savior. Most people, in this country today, do not know or understand where this country has been, where it is now, and where it is headed. Because when a nation rejects God, there is no direction, no purpose, and no moral or spiritual values anymore. Our generation, for the most part, is one without any values and the God given values are often ridiculed and rejected by the people. They have their own values, which really, is none at all!
The word revealed, {Isaiah 53:1} in Hebrew: "gala" has a more negative idea than the original meaning. One of its meanings is "to be stripped naked in a disgraceful way". It also means "to be treated like a captive", and "to be carried away into exile", or, "to be shamelessly uncovered". So the Lord is not simply revealed, but stripped, humiliated, and deeply degraded in order to save us. Not only was Jesus revealed to us as the Savior of the world, but it was also revealed to us all his sufferings that He went through for us, even his death on the cross. The cost He paid was extremely terrible and certainly not justified.
It's never easy for us to remember the Lord's sufferings or to even think much about it, it is hard enough to imagine an innocent human being suffering like that; but we all should remember; because the reality and the truth of the cross at Calvary and the Lord's sufferings belongs to us in every way, and we may yet be called to endure our own share of suffering for the Lord. We never know, but the Lord does. We, as His followers, must remember His sufferings will help and prepare us for whatever that comes before us. We must, as His followers, remember how he suffered. It will keep us spiritually and morally correct in all that we do, and get us ready for our own sufferings that will come as we follow Him.
Jesus healed many people in His days on this earth, but to most people, back then, it was nothing, they still did not believe in Him and it is the same way today with people, they will not believe in Him no matter what the Lord does for them. We, as Christians, can only report the "GOOD NEWS". That is all we are accountable and responsible for. It is up to the people to make their own decision about the Lord. Many, in this world, believe but will not admit it. When you really stop and think about it the people, in the days that Jesus walked the earth, was in good standing with the church and they rejected Him. The problem must be laid at the feet of the religious leaders of that day and for the most part it is the very same today! The church of today has the problem of "unbelieving believers". They only want to believe what they want to believe about the word of God and then they try to explain the rest of it away. Little do they know that God's word will not come back to him void!
