Try your own selves, whether ye are in the faith; prove your own selves. Or know ye not as to your own selves, that Jesus Christ is in you? unless indeed ye be reprobate. (2 Corinthians 13:5)
Deception and trickery is one of the Devils greatest tools.
He uses it as a weapon against Christians. Deception was the weapon that he
used to trick Adam and Eve in the garden and both of them to fall. Since
deception was the primary weapon used by Satan in his effort to trick Adam and
Eve we can rest assured that he will do the same to all people. The human race
is plagued with deception and for this very reason many are deceived, including
Christians.
The church is no longer what it used to be. It (in most
cases) is not no longer a refuge, a hospital for the sick, a place to give
honor to Christ. In fact most churches are everything but that. During my
lifetime I have seen the church steady go down. Sad, but the truth! Most
churches today are no more than a glorified social club. The crosses are coming
down from more churches every day. Most signs, in front of the churches, say
nothing about Jesus, but rather everything else from chicken dinner sales, to
fashion shows, garage sales, soup sales, bingo, and you name it.
We now have in some
churches the removal of song books, the Koran is being placed next to the Bible
in the pew. What fellowship does light have with darkness. People come to church with problems and the
preacher sends them to a psychologist. This should never be. The church of our
God should be a house of deliverance and not what it has become. This is a very alarming thing. People do not
need the 12 step program, the prosperity gospel, or the purpose driven life.
These things should be a warning sign. In
either of these there is no cross, or a crucified Savior. What we do need is Jesus
Christ and Him crucified.
Every believer needs to do the same thing that our brother
Paul did and said; “Examine yourselves, whether you be
in the faith” Our belief system must revolve around Jesus Christ and Him crucified. If
it does not we need to get rid of it and deny the false ways and take up the
cross and follow Jesus, because He is the way.
